The 52nd Nasty Track of the North season opener at the Can Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York saw some great racing in all five division this past Friday night. Despite the chilly temperatures fans were treated to some exciting racing and some emotional finishes.

The DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series took to the speedway for the first leg of the five race series. Defending Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman track champion Gavin Eisele drew the pole and was able to get the lead from Brennan Moore and appeared to be the driver to beat in the opening laps, as he drove away with Richard Murtaugh running third. As the laps clicked off lapped traffic came into play which allowed Moore to close in on Eisele for the race lead. On lap 18 Eisele was in heavy traffic which gave Moore the opportunity to take over the lead off turn 4. With Moore in front and Eisele giving chase, Jessica Power was making some big moves in traffic going three wide with Eisele and Tristan Ladouceur to take over the runner up spot, as Moore appeared to be on his way to his first ever series win. On lap 23 the final yellow flew setting up a great battle between two fellow Canadian competitors. When the green flew, Brennan Moore did everything right and despite several challenges from Jessica Power, it was Brennan Moore’s night as he held off Power to score his second ever Can Am win and his first DIRTCar Sportsman Series win. Jessica Power, Tristan Ladouceur, Gavin Eisele and Richard Murtaugh completed the top 5.

Jordan McCreadie was the early pace setter in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified 25 lap feature as he took the lead from Shaun Shaw and looked to have everything going his way, with Shaw and Tim Fuller completing the top 3. As McCreadie pulled away Shaw was able to break away from Fuller, while behind them Lance Willix, last year’s opening day winner Jackson Gill and defending track champion Billy Dunn were having a battle for top five positions. After a quick yellow on lap 12 for debris, it was exactly what Tim Fuller needed to get another chance at McCreadie. On the restart Fuller quickly got by Shaun Shaw for second and moved to the high lane to get alongside McCreadie. On lap 13 Fuller would make his way by and start to drive away. McCreadie still kept pace with the leader but behind him Jackson Gill was making some great moves as he got around Lance Willix and Shaun Shaw to move into the top 3. After a tough 2025 season Tim Fuller turned it around scoring his 3rd Can Am season opener and would hit a milestone 50th Can Am modified win, good for third on the all time list. Jordan McCreadie, Jackson Gill, Shaun Shaw and Lance Willix completed the top 5.

Mason Rogers won 4 times last year in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman at Can Am and would take the lead from the pole in the 15 lap event. Rogers was unchallenged throughout the entire race with Stephen Bushey and veteran Mike Durham trying to keep pace. Jason Rarick had a tough night with handling problems spinning late in the race, which gave Bushey and Durham a shot at the leader with one lap left. On the final restart Mason Rogers played it perfect as he drove away from a quality field to score the opening day win and his 5th career Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman win at Can Am. Stephen Bushey, Mike Durham, Hayden Howard and Cayden Graham finished out the top 5 spots.

Josh Verne Jr. has been the dominant driver in the Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Cars winning the track title all four years, but until this past Friday night, had only won the season opener once. Verne was determined to get to the front quickly as he charged to second at the end of lap 1 then challenged Tucker Donath for the lead on the outside lane off turn 4. Verne would take the top spot away and turn in a dominant performance on this night. In the caution free 20 lap event, Andrew Hennessy a three time winner last season was able to get to the runner up spot but was not able to catch the leader. In the end Josh Verne Jr. would dominate for his second season opener and 19th career Can Am Crate Sprint Car win, over Andrew Hennessy, Tucker Donath, Adam Turner and Tiger Chapman.

The Sundance Leisure ThunderCars saw last years opening day winner Corey Valade take the lead early from the pole and would hold off veteran Jock Symonds in the opening laps. Valade won 8 times in 2025 and was looking for back to back season opening wins. Symonds had never won the season opener and remained close in the 15 lap event with Jared Gilson in third. At the finish Valade would cross the line first, however a post race technical infraction would see Jock Symonds collect the win.
