THE SHOWDOWN IN SEPTEMBER IS THE BIG FINALE AT CAN-AM SPEEDWAY FRIDAY NIGHT

LA FARGEVILLE, NY – Just one final night of racing stands between fans and the long off-season in the North Country of New York. Can-Am Speedway has reserved the best for last with four classes of race cars taking to the track Friday night, sponsored by O.D. Green Lumber.

Headlining the night is a DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Race featuring 60 laps for a $4,000 payday going to the winner. Ryan Bartlett, of Watertown, New York, has set the DIRTcar 358 Northeast scene on fire and is the current points leader. He will have a solid home track advantage to continue atop the leaderboard. Top money winner so far in the DIRTcar 358 Modified Northeast region points series is Billy Dunn, of Watertown, New York. He sits in fourth position, just 18 points behind the leader, Ryan Bartlett. Dave Marcuccilli, of Montezuma, New York and Lance Willix II, of Theresa, New York, stand in the way of Dunn of reaching first place in points. Dunn was the 2021 Series Champion. The entire field of talent on the track Friday night in the 358 Modified division means there are no guarantees and the competition is wide open as they chase the big payout, and bragging rights for the final 358 feature of 2022 at Can-Am Speedway.

The FX Caprara Family of Dealerships present the 4th Annual John Burr Memorial race for the DIRTcar Sportsman series. The feature will run 30 laps and the winner takes home $1,500. After a stellar competition to close out the track points chase last week, expect fireworks on the track in the Sportsman class. Can-Am Speedway 2022 track champion, Tyler Corcoran, of Central Square, New York, looking to add a back-to-back victory after notching his three-peat championship tally at Can-Am. DIRTcar Sportsman drivers from all across New York and parts of Canada will bring their talent to bear in the final melee of 2022. Since 2019, Can-Am has celebrated John Burr during the annual Showdown in September. Whether it was interviewing the race winner or calling the event from the booth, John Burr was a knowledgeable voice for local race fans at a number of tracks during his illustrious career. John Burr was a fixture in local auto racing, dirt and asphalt both, for 30 years or more in the area and was the voice of Can-Am Speedway for decades.

FABCO DIRTcar Pro Stocks will run a 20-lap feature to determine the track championship for Can-Am Speedway. Currently, Bruno Richard, of Gatineau, Quebec, leads the points chase, with Tyler Bushey, of Heuvelton, New York, and Eli Gilbert, of Brasher Falls, New York, following close behind in second and third place. Always an aggressively competitive class, Friday night will determine the supreme racer in the Pro Stock class for 2022.

Not to be missed on Friday night, a knock-down, all-out brawl will ensue in the ThunderCar class as the Ron White Memorial race will take place. The feature will be 20 laps with $1,000 to win – the richest payout of the season in the ThunderCar class – thanks to Francis White & Family. Ron was a long time Small Block Modified competitor and you could find his popular #60 cars competing around the Northern New York and Southern Ontario dirt tracks for many years, picking up numerous feature wins along the way. Ron's family, friends and their supporters will join with the Can-Am Speedway again this year to help make this the biggest ThunderCar race of the season.

Make plans now to join the fans and drivers alike at Can-Am Speedway Friday night. One last time for 2022 – the Showdown in September, brought to you by O.D. Greene Lumber.
