One Last Roar Before the Rest: Can-Am Drivers Make Statements Ahead of Championship Night
It’s almost that time to close out the 2025 season but this past Friday night at the Can Am Speedway, drivers were looking to make a return to victory lane while one driver secured his first ever trip to the winners circle.
It has been a tough season for Tim Fuller in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modified division. After four straight track titles, Fuller found himself third in points with only one win on the year. This past Friday night Fuller jumped out front in the 25 lap event and never looked back scoring his 2nd win of the season and his 49th career Can Am Modified win with Points leader Billy Dunn taking second and Scott Webb third.
Trevor Gibbons was dominant in the 20 lap Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman feature on Friday night. Gibbons led early and survived only one restart as he drove away from Richard Murtaugh to grab his first career win on dirt. Points leader Gavin Eisele came from 8th on the starting grid to finish in the runner up spot ahead of Richard Murtaugh.
Josh Verne Jr. had two wins on the season coming into Friday night but was using consistency this year to stay ahead of the field. This past Friday night he looked like the Josh Verne Jr. we have seen in the past as he dominated the 20 lap Panther Frameworx Crate Sprint Car feature. For Verne it was his 18th career Can Am win and third of the season. Bruno Richard and Nick Webb claimed the podium spots.
Corey Valade continues win and win a lot in the Sundance Leisure Thundercars at Can Am this year. Valade grabbed the lead early and was never challenged during the 15 lap feature event, claiming his division leading 7th win of the 2025 campaign. Jared Gilson crossed in second with Tony Frezzo, who showed up just in time to start the feature, crossed in third to maintain his points lead.
Mason Rogers has been a driver on a mission this year in the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman. The 11 year driver out of Lafargeville New York grabbed the lead on lap 4 of the 15 lap feature from Hayden Howard and would not look back scoring his 4th win of the season. Caleb Howard and Brianna Murtaugh crossed 2nd and 3rd respectively.
This week the speedway will sit silent as the staff and management prepare for a Night of Champions on August 29th. Titles in the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTcar Sportsman, Panther Frameworx Crate Sprints and Sundance Leisure Thundercars will be decided. Mason Rogers and Genavieve Bartlett will battle it out to see who will have the most wins on the season in Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman, with both drivers heading into championship night with 4 feature wins on the year.
