Caprara's Can-Am Motorsports Park Champions Crowned

ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY - A great crowd was on hand this past Saturday night at the beautiful Bonnie Castle Resort in Alexandria Bay NY, to recognize the 2017 Point Champions and top drivers in each division.

The evening began with a social hour when drivers, crews and fans could mingle and also chat with new Can-Am Speedway owner Tyler Bartlett. The crowd was then treated to a great buffet dinner before MC Jeff Barrett thanked everyone for coming on Teresa Caprara's behalf.

DIRTcar Northeast Series and Race Director Denis Moquin was on hand and talked to the crowd about Can-Am rejoining DIRTcar and the World Racing Group in 2018 and how important family is to the success of short track racers.

New owner Tyler Bartlett then welcomed the crowd and thank everyone for coming. Tyler spoke briefly about some great things he has planned for Can-Am and his new division sponsors that will help increase the 2018 point funds for all divisions,

Norm Dunn, from Number One Speed took the stage next to hand out over $2500 in gift certificates and merchandise to some lucky drivers. Norm and Number One Speed have been long time supporters of Can-Am and will continue to be a big part of the weekly program again this coming season.

It was then time to hand out the awards and point fund money to those drivers in attendance. Point Champions in their respective divisions took home the Champions trophies and 1st place point fund checks presented by Teresa Caprara. Champions in 2017 were Billy Dunn - 358 Modified, Taylor Caprara - Sportsman, Shawn Kirby - Pro Street, Chuck Monica - Thunder Stock and tri-Champions in the Novice Sportsman - Matt Brown, Skylar Greenfield and Remington Hamm.

There are a number of exciting things planned for Can-Am in 2018 for both competitors and fans. Can-Am's next event will be the Motorsports Expo in Syracuse NY on March 10th and 11th, where officials will be on hand to talk with racers and race fans about the quickly approaching race season.
